Have face painting questions?

My time, supplies and travel are included in your final quote.  Extra faces on the day may be charged additionally if these take me over my allotted time, so please allow for everyone who may wish to be painted (dads and grandparents particularly love to hop onto the painting stool)! 

I am more than happy to help you estimate your time required so please don't hesitate to ask if you'd like some guidance with this.  As a rule for children's parties, please allow no more than 10 faces per hour.

You can either complete the form using the 'I want to book!' button below, phone me on 021 444 381 or email me at thebigyellowpaintbox@gmail.com.  I'll then send you an email with my availability,  quoted price, contract Ts & Cs and bank details. If you wish to go ahead, a $40 non-refundable deposit is required.  Once I have received this, your booking is confirmed (woop woop!). The remaining balance is due no later than 7 days prior to your booking.  Please note, additional faces on the day may incur additional costs if these take me over my allotted time.  

Payments can me made online to 02-0922-0072764-000.  Please use you surname as reference. Corporate invoices will have a client number listed to reference instead.

I use a new sponge and cotton swab on each face.  The Big Yellow Paint Box is cleaned and sanitised thoroughly after each event.  Sponges and linen are washed on a hot washing machine cycle using eco-friendly detergent.

When you see me painting, you will notice that I sanitise my hands with an alcohol based sanitiser between each child/person.  I switch my water out and wash my hands as often as possible. I will also be sanitising my painter's stool and The Big Yellow Paint Box regularly so please be patient and kind to me as this can take a couple of minutes.  In addition, I use a water sanitiser from Silly Farm called Brush Bath in my 3-step brush cleaner.  This is a 100% organic product (water sanitiser, brush cleaner and make-up remover in one).  It is added to my rinsing water, so please speak to me if you have any skin sensitivity concerns.

Strictly no more than 10 faces per hour is the short answer!

I like to allow for this number of faces at a child's birthday party and the reason is because I'm painting larger scale designs with all of the 'trimmings'.  24 kids in 2 hours simply will not receive the same level of detail.  So allow for no more than 10 and if you think your numbers will increase, let me know as soon as possible. 

Please make sure that little faces are clean and noses dry for me to paint.  

Kindly note that I will not paint anyone with cuts, open sores or contagious skin conditions.   

If you or someone else in your party or group are feeling unwell,  you MUST let me know, as soon as possible.  This is for the safety of everyone at the event, including me! We will then re-schedule and make another day for fantastic painting fun!

The Big Yellow Paint Box contains all of my beautiful things and I will bring my painter's stool (and chalk board if at a pay-per-face event). If I am inside a home, office or undercover, a small space of approximately 2 square metres is required.  If I am to paint outside, please provide a shaded/covered area and an alternative spot if bad weather really sets in.  Let me know if you would like me to bring my own water supply.

 I only use professional face paints and supplies.  Brands inside The Big Yellow Paint Box include TAG, Global Colours, Fusion Body Art, Diamond FX, Body FX and Silly Farm.  I use professional paint brushes, sponges and stencils together with bio-degradable cosmetic grade glitter (Bio-Glitter) and bamboo cotton swabs.  MSDS sheets are available upon request.

Eventually the party must end.  I do not advise leaving face paint on overnight and some colours can be a little trickier to remove.  Generally the shower or bath will do the job nicely, however for stubborn colours simply rub a little coconut or olive oil into the area and wipe away with a damp wash cloth.

Everyone looks fabulous with glitter, but Aotearoa is beautiful enough!  I use eco-friendly practices and supplies wherever possible, including: 

- Bio-degradable cotton swabs 

- Bio-Glitter (glitter which breaks down fully leaving the environment unharmed)

- Eco-friendly detergents and sanitisers  

I generally do not paint children under 12 months.  Children 3 years and under, I will assess individually...everybody must be happy to be painted!  If they are shy or tearful, today is not their day for face painting.  They can be first in my queue another time! If you are 118 years old, hop on up!

My busiest time is without a doubt, always in the summer! But face painting is a brilliant concept, year round.  Any event held inside is perfect for face painting and provides something bright and fantastic even in the coldest and darkest months!
